Whole Body Photobiomodulation

Imagine lying comfortably while therapeutic light bathes your entire body, simultaneously energizing trillions of cells and supporting your body’s innate healing capacity. Whole body photobiomodulation (PBM) takes the proven science of light therapy and applies it systemically, delivering benefits that targeted treatments alone cannot achieve.

Our Whole Body PBM Systems

NovoThor Whole Body Light Pod

Medical-grade full-body light bed utilizing red (660nm) and near-infrared (850nm) wavelengths across
thousands of high-powered LEDs, delivering optimal therapeutic doses to your entire body simultaneously.

Theralight 360

Advanced 360-degree light therapy system that surrounds the body with precisely calibrated wavelengths,
ensuring even coverage and consistent dosing across all tissue surfaces.

The Mitochondrial Effect

At the heart of photobiomodulation is its effect on mitochondria—the energy-producing organelles within every cell. When red and near-infrared light penetrates your tissues, it’s absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase (CCO), a photosensitive enzyme in the mitochondrial respiratory chain. This absorption has several profound effects.

First, it increases ATP production—the cellular energy currency that powers virtually every biological process including repair, regeneration, and immune function. Second, it modulates reactive oxygen species (ROS), reducing oxidative stress while maintaining the beneficial signaling functions of these molecules. Third, it releases nitric oxide from CCO, improving local blood flow and oxygen delivery.

When applied to the whole body, these effects become systemic. Rather than treating one painful area, you’re supporting mitochondrial function throughout your entire system—in muscles, joints, organs, brain tissue, and the immune system.

The Lymphatic Effect

Beyond its mitochondrial benefits, whole body PBM has significant effects on the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is your body’s drainage network, responsible for removing cellular waste, toxins, and inflammatory byproducts from tissues. Unlike the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system has no central pump—it relies on muscle contractions and other mechanisms to move fluid.

Photobiomodulation has been shown to enhance lymphatic flow and function in several ways. It stimulates the smooth muscle cells lining lymphatic vessels, increasing their pumping action. It reduces inflammation that can impede lymphatic drainage. And it supports the energy production (ATP) that lymphatic cells need to function optimally. The result is improved detoxification, reduced swelling, and enhanced immune surveillance throughout the body.

What to Expect

A whole body PBM session lasts approximately 20 minutes. You’ll lie comfortably in the light pod wearing minimal clothing or none at all to maximize light exposure to your skin. The experience is deeply relaxing—many patients describe it as meditative. The light produces a gentle warmth but contains no harmful UV rays.

Frequency of sessions depends on your goals. For acute conditions or athletic recovery, 3 to 5 sessions per week may be recommended initially. For general wellness, anti-aging benefits, and maintenance, 1 to 3 sessions weekly is typical. There are no side effects, no downtime, and treatments can be combined with other therapies for enhanced results.

Many patients notice improved energy, better sleep, and reduced pain after just a few sessions. The cumulative effects build over time as cellular function improves throughout your body.
